I Heart Waffle House, Part 2

It’s possible that Jenni quit before our eyes.  At least, that’s what my parents think.  They said they saw her leaving wearing a white shirt, leaving behind her Waffle House issued shirt.  Gasp!  Will this ever resolve?

I Heart Waffle House

I’ve now been to Waffle House twice.  I should probably say up front that the Waffle House responsible for both of my experiences is notably cleaner and less shady than the majority of Waffle Houses seem.  I’ve only had breakfast, basically, but I’ve had a variety of their food, and enjoyed it all.

The experience is pretty killer, too.  Today’s was even more exceptional than the last.  Actually, it started a little slow: our waitress was not very quick to ask for our drink orders, even though we sat at the bar (present: Mom, Dad, Amanda, Wyatt “the Wild Noodle”, and me).  We played three songs on the jukebox:  “There are Raisins in my Toast” (listen here), “Folsom Prison Blues”, and “Hey Ya”.  Actually, it said Hey Ya!, and we punched the right number, but it played Taylor Swift’s “Teardrops on my Guitar”.  I’m not a huge country fan, but I guess that’s an acceptably enjoyable guilty pleasure country teenybopper pop song.

The fun really went down after we ordered.  Our waitress, Jenni (name changed to protect the innocent) was orating our order to the Grill Operator (actual title), Roger (who looked EXACTLY like Huey Lewis), when she made a booboo.  Another older, more experienced waitress corrected her, and then they just about threw down RIGHT NOW.  The older waitress grabbed Jenni and forcefully – dragging her by the hand -  removed her to the backroom.  Jenni was not to be seen again, except through the door to the washroom.  She did dishes the rest of the morning.  Roger, who Wyatt and I later inducted into the Waiter Hall of Fame (TM), just took over, carrying the team on his back to keep things moving and complete our order.  Actually, there was a slight goofup, as my Bacon Egg & Cheese Texas toast magically had steak on it.  We ate it, and they provided the correct order, too.

The manager appeared out of nowhere to keep things under control.  He apologized to us (it wasn’t really necessary, but still appreciated) and picked up the tab on our meal (Wow!).

Anyway, as always: DELICIOUS.

Also, it was Amanda’s first WH experience, and I’m glad she got some drama to boot, although I must say I feel bad for Jenni.
